TecRMI

RMI · Repair and Maintenance Information · workshop data

TecRMI is the repair and maintenance information reference system published by TecAlliance: standard labour times, repair procedures, manufacturer service schedules, diagrams and torque figures. It answers "how to do the job and how long it takes", where a parts catalogue answers "which part number".

Director of publication : Florian Précigout

It is the data that lets labour be priced without guesswork. A credible workshop quote stands on two legs: the part, priced from the catalogue and the ERP, and the time, priced from a defensible standard. Without the second, a quote gets negotiated; with it, a quote gets explained.

For a distributor the benefit is indirect but real: offering partner workshops a complete quote rather than a parts line moves you higher in the decision. The workshop then compares solutions, not part prices.

Like TecDoc, access is licensed by TecAlliance and subscribed by the operator. Coverage varies by make and model year — a missing labour time cannot be inferred from a neighbouring one.

The trap

Taking a standard labour time for a guaranteed duration. It is a normalised billing basis, not a promise: a corroded vehicle, a seized part or restricted access all pull reality away from the standard.

Frequently asked

Does TecRMI replace manufacturer documentation?

No. It aggregates and normalises maintenance and repair data for the independent aftermarket. Official manufacturer documentation remains authoritative on its own fleet.

Do you need TecRMI to sell parts?

No, a parts catalogue is enough to identify and sell. TecRMI matters when you want to issue a complete parts-plus-labour quote, or justify a billed time.
